14 Ways To Elevate Canned Salmon
BY ELETTRA PAULETTO
1. Croquettes
For delicious salmon croquettes, all you need are some panko breadcrumbs and seasonings. Just make sure that you don’t forget to drain the salmon before using it.
For added convenience, you can use the empty can to mold your salmon mixture into perfectly-sized croquettes. The croquettes go great with a creamy dill and lemon dip.
2. Burger
A salmon burger is fairly easy to make and tastes great. Since canned salmon is already cooked, you can start mixing it with your favorite burger ingredients right away.
Once the ingredients, such as mustard, mayo, dill, breadcrumbs, and eggs, are mixed, craft the patties to your desired size and fry them in a pan until the eggs are cooked.
3. Sushi Bake
Sushi bake is a recipe that calls for fresh fish to be baked for 15 minutes in the oven. Canned salmon allows you to skip this step and move on to the rice.
Once your rice is made, put it in a casserole dish and top it with your salmon mixed with soy sauce and mayo. This cuts your prep time for the dish down to 30 minutes from 45.
4. Tuna Swap
With lots of tuna dishes, such as tuna salad, canned salmon can be used in place of the tuna to alter the flavors of ingredients without heavily changing the recipe.
For a unique canned salmon salad, try mixing the salmon with Greek yogurt instead of mayo, along with chopped celery and onions, mustard, seasoning, and lemon juice.
5. Pasta
Make a tasty and unique pasta with canned salmon by incorporating olive oil, garlic, diced onion, asparagus, lemon, heavy cream, dry white wine, Parmesan, and seasonings.
Once the ingredients are combined and cooked in the appropriate order, the salmon can be added along with the cooked pasta. Just be sure to chop the fish into chunks first.
Then, continue to cook it until everything is warmed through. Ensure the salmon and asparagus chunks are more or less the same size to provide an even texture throughout.
