New Orleans, LA 70112

The cocktail was invented in New Orleans; legend has it that it was pharmacist Antoine Peychaud (yes, as in the bitters) at the Roosevelt Hotel. You can still find the best incarnation of the combination of whiskey, bitters, sugar and absinthe with a lemon twist at the bar that bears the Sazerac name.
