"Maybe it's a personal preference, but I really get into fall," Jessica Brown, wine director at NYC's The John Dory Oyster Bar and The Breslin, says. "I love those flavors of pumpkin and pomegranate and cranberry and the heartier fare that comes with the cooler weather."
We're inclined to agree, which is why we tapped Brown to stock Tasting Table's Fall Wine Cellar with a selection of food-friendly bottles to usher in the cooler weather—and the start of fall (and, ahem, holiday) entertaining season. "A lot of fall dishes have a fruity element to them, so you're looking at reds that are a little bit fruit forward and lighter to medium in body," Brown explains, adding that it's also a great time to be drinking fuller-bodied whites with plenty of apple notes.
What's more, she's taken some of the guesswork out of fall pairings, offering specific suggestions for pork chops, roast chicken, cheese plates and more.
And don't worry—there are plenty of great wines for Thanksgiving in here, too. It is the season, after all.
