2009 Michel Delhommeau Monnières-Saint Fiacre Muscadet Sèvre et Maine, $18

"I'm pretty excited to see more of these elevated-style Muscadet wines come down the pike. Delhommeau's Monnières-Saint Fiacre (from one of a few, newly recognized cru zones in the region) makes use of old vines of Melon de Bourgogne grapes and has a classic Muscadet zest. It's also aged on the lees, the sediment that remains after fermentation, for at least 30 months before it's bottled, which gives it a more opulent texture and a little extra weight."
