Meet Dale Talde - Chef At Talde And Pork Slope

At home with the chef of Pork Slope and Talde

Sometimes it's good to remember that chefs, they're just like us.

A recent trip to chef Dale Talde's apartment to look inside his refrigerator reinforced this point. The shelves were nearly barren.

We'll cut the dude some slack, though. The chef of the fusion-fun Talde and the new deliciously drinking-friendly "roadhouse" and bar Pork Slope spends his days and nights biking between his two Park Slope restaurants and he has just added a third, Thistle Hill Tavern, to the mix.

Explore our slide show to take a tour of this chef's home-kitchen staples, from Hellman's mayonnaise and frozen peas, to a secret stash of Reese's Pieces and the takeout dishes he can't stop ordering. Plus, Talde's apartment has killer views to the Red Hook waterfront.

He also let us in on his favorite working-man's recipe: pasta with tomatoes, garlic and anchovies. It's a lovingly slapdash dish, one any bare-bones pantry can handle because it requires only one of each of the ingredients.

Chef or not, that kind of simplicity is something we can all appreciate.
