Take A Virtual Tour Of The Sriracha Factory

Take a virtual tour of the spicy factory

If you're anything like us, you always have a bottle of Sriracha on hand to add a kick to everything from eggs to takeout. Huy Fong started making the sauce back in the 1980s, and today, his factory turns out 20 million bottles a year.

So how's the spicy stuff made? Refinery29 offers the latest peek inside the factory, which has 21 tons of red jalapeƱos delivered daily during the four-month growing period. Those peppers get washed, ground up, mixed with vinegar and salt, and then stored in giant plastic barrels. Later, the pepper sauce is mixed with garlic and sugar, and bottled by a machine that turns out 3,000 bottles an hour.

Take a look around for yourself. Warning: Things get spicy.
