Spaghetti Doughnuts Are Coming To NYC

Handheld pasta we'd gladly eat by the dozen

Ever find yourself wanting to indulge in a bowl of spaghetti while holding hands with your significant other on a sunny day? OK, we usually don't either (mostly because we're lacking the significant-other part), but we would've been pairing the two activities a lot sooner if we had spaghetti doughnuts.

The newest entry in the world of brilliant (and somewhat-unnecessary) food mash-ups comes courtesy of Pop Pasta in New York City. The doughnuts combine a popular Neapolitan dish, frittata di spaghetti—leftover pasta tossed with beaten eggs and then fried—with Homer Simpson's beloved breakfast item. According to Pop Pasta's menu, the doughnuts come in a variety of flavors, including garlicky aglio e olio, classic red and even a meaty Bolognese version. And while we can't say just yet if these handheld hybrids will edge out Nonna's Sunday gravy, one thing we do know is they'll probably get you a lot more Instagram likes.

While Pop Pasta doesn't have a physical space, you can still grab these savory treats starting this weekend at Smorgasburg, Brooklyn's yearly food market that runs from April through October, Gothamist reports.
