Roy Choi Opening LocoL And Kogi Taqueria Very Soon

Roy Choi will open LocoL and Kogi Taqueria very soon

Roy Choi is on fire this week. The L.A.-based chef finally dropped an opening date for his first location of LocoL, a sustainable fast-food restaurant he's working on with Daniel Patterson, Chad Robertson, René Redzepi and other stars of the chef-verse. The Watts location will open its doors on MLK Day, January 18, and the outlet in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood (and or a location in Oakland) should follow soon after, serving burgers made with beef and rice; fried chicken sandwiches; and a taco/wrap filled with beans, lentils, rice, cheese and a greens salsa that the team is calling "The Foldie."

Choi also announced yesterday that he's opening Kogi Taqueria in the coming weeks in a Palms strip mall in L.A., Eater LA reports. The restaurant is the first brick-and-mortar location for Kogi BBQ, Choi's legendary food truck that has been peddling Korean Mexican mash-ups for just over seven years. No word yet from the team on what will be on the menu. For now, you'll have to feast your eyes on some of LocoL's menu items over on Choi's Instagram.
