NYC Restaurant Week Dinner 2017

Nearly 400 restaurants are participating, but these are the ones that make our short list

Residents of New York City, welcome to the most wonderful time of the year: NYC Restaurant Week, when all the restaurants you've been meaning to try offer special savings and events. From July 24 to August 18, nearly 400 restaurants will roll out a plethora of top-quality, budget-friendly brunch, lunch and dinner menus. To help you sift through all the options, we've rounded up our top five dinner picks.

① Mission Chinese Food

For those who like it hot, head down to Danny Bowien's Lower East Side spot. The kitchen, helmed by James Beard Award-nominated chef Angela Dimayuga, is known for unique takes on Sichuan cooking. Heat seekers will want to order the thrice-cooked bacon and rice cakes, mapo tofu, or Chongqing chicken wings.

② American Cut

Marc Forgione's modern steakhouse is a diamond in the Midtown rough. Start with a chilled corn soup, move on to a perfectly cooked filet mignon and end on a sweet note with the Cracker Jack Sundae. Oh, and the best part: The meal comes with a side of waffle fries.

③ Aureole

Are you a star chaser? If so, Aureole is one of the few Michelin-starred restaurants participating in this summer's event. This is your chance to sample chef Charlie Palmer's food at a fraction of the cost.

④ MP Taverna

For those who want to venture outside of Manhattan, hop the river to Astoria for some of the best Greek food in the city. Take full advantage of all the summer has to offer and enjoy dishes like artichoke risotto or grilled Atlantic salmon on the restaurant's large outdoor patio.

⑤ Untitled

Looking to have a cultured night out on the town? Stroll through the exhibits at the Whitney Museum of American Art before your reservation at Untitled, then walk off your meal with a stroll through the High Line park afterward.
