Halloween Doughnuts In NYC 2017

All the pumpkin doughnuts you could possibly wish for

Life hack on how to keep from eating all the Halloween candy before the first doorbell rings: Arm yourself with doughnuts. These five New York craft doughnut shops have you covered with seasonal specials, so you can sit on your stoop with a fried circle in hand, watching the Wonder Women and Pennywise clowns parade down your street. Just say you're dressed as Homer Simpson.

The Cinnamon Snail

It's been a month of various-themed doughnuts—including ones with scarily adorable cookies on top. There's also a quadruple-threat chocolate doughnut with chocolate cake, ganache, buttercream and a tombstone cookie surrounded by Oreo-crumb "dirt." While you're there, look for the Charlie Brown pumpkin pop tarts or dachshund hot dog Twinkies.

Underwest Donuts

From now through Halloween Day, Underwest's classic vanilla-lavender Carwash doughnut comes dressed up as a pumpkin, while its dark chocolate flavor goes Goth under a candy skull topping. For a less spooky option, go with the candied-orange, rind-topped mulled cider to get you excited for the next seasonal release: pumpkin-ginger.

Dunwell Doughnuts

New York's other vegan doughnut gem has an equally strong festive game. It's had different flavor and decoration varieties through the month so far, ranging from pumpkin spice with granola crunch to classic vanilla bedazzled in fall sprinkles or Halloween decoration.

The Doughnut Project

In honor of the Stranger Things season two debut, one of this shop's specials is the Doughnut Eleven: a mini maple-glazed confection topped with raspberry sauce and a baby Eggo waffle. Other various mini Halloween doughnuts will be available starting Friday, just in time for weekend parties. If you're not the sharing type, go with a full-sized fall favorite like the caramel apple fritter or cinnamon pepita.

Doughnut Plant

With options for cake, yeast and filled, you can get your fix of spiced pepita-topped pumpkin doughnuts, no matter which style's camp you fall in. There's also both cake and yeasted options for apple cinnamon, for all those out there dressing as an apple orchard this year.
