TT Tip: If you have fresh figs, substitute one fresh fig sliced in half lengthwise, for the jam. Muddle the fig pieces in the cocktail shaker with ½ teaspoon of granulated sugar and the lemon juice before adding the rest of the ingredients.
When Figs FlyRecipe from the Tasting Table Test Kitchen
Yield: 1 cocktail
Cook Time: 5 minutes
1 tablespoon fig jam
1½ ounces bourbon
¼ ounce orange liqueur, preferably dry Curaçao
½ ounce fresh lemon juice
In a cocktail shaker, combine the jam, bourbon, orange liqueur, lemon juice and ice. Cover and shake. Double strain the cocktail into an ice-filled Old-Fashioned glass and serve.
