What's for Dinner: The Monster Mash
Not feeling inspired by your usual dishes? Here's what's for dinner.
We're getting in full holiday swing. For Halloween, that is. This includes multiple viewings of Rosemary's Baby and other classic horror films, but it also means blasting "Monster Mash" unabashedly on repeat. Pay homage to one of the greatest Halloween songs with a whiskey cocktail, mashed potatoes and smashed-avocado tostadas.
① Drink: Rye Witch
If an old-fashioned decided to dress up, this would be its Halloween costume. A bit of sherry and Strega, a saffron-scented Italian liqueur, transform the classic cocktail into something wickedly delicious.

② Main Course: Tostadas with Charred Snap Peas and Avocado
Frozen peas work as a fine substitute for out-of-season favas in this crunchy, flat version of avocado toast. Save the green mash for a post-trick-or-treating snack or as recovery food tomorrow morning.
③ Side Dish: Hazelnut-Browned Butter Mashed Potatoes
These potatoes are not messing around. They're made ultra smooth with brown butter, heavy cream and whole milk, then topped with toasty hazelnuts. Even if it's chilly on Halloween night, a spoon of this mash will keep you warm from the inside out.
