Taco Bell Is Throwing A Drag Brunch In 5 US Cities

Taco Bell is serving up fire fit for a queen, and it's not the kind that comes in a little sauce packet. According to a press release, the spicy fast-food giant is celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community by hosting its first Taco Bell Drag Brunch at select Taco Bell Cantina locations starting in May.

What is brunch if not an excuse to drink a late morning mimosa? Living Más says that's not a problem for Taco Bell, as the taco chain has multiple cantina-style restaurants across the U.S. that feature an urban design and custom menu that serves beer, wine, spiked Freezes, and sangria. Kay Sedia, a drag performer and self-proclaimed taco connoisseur, will be hosting each show that comes complete with a special breakfast menu, lip-sync routines, and all the fabulousness that one might expect from fan-favorite queens and kings.

Live Más Pride, an employee resource group started by Taco Bell in 2020, cooked up the idea for a drag brunch to show support for the LGBTQIA+ community by highlighting the cultural and artistic importance of drag. The restaurant hopes to increase awareness and opportunity for marginalized groups by hosting community events that create a safe and fun space to be authentic with chosen family.

Taco Bell has partnered with the It Gets Better Project

As if Taco Bell's menu wasn't spicy enough, the restaurant chain is heating things up with a Drag Brunch Tour at select cantina locations. In addition to hosting an immersive food and entertainment experience for fans, the fast-food giant has partnered with It Gets Better to create accepting, supportive environments for the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies.

In 2010, a social media movement that started with stories shared by LGBTQ+ community members hoping for a positive cultural shift became a global non-profit organization aptly named It Gets Better. The organization that now reaches millions has its sights set on supporting and empowering queer youth. In addition to a grant from Taco Bell, information about the organization and how to get involved will be featured in each drag show.

The Taco Bell Drag Brunch Tour kicks off in Las Vegas on May 1, followed by cantinas in Chicago on May 22, Nashville on May 29, New York on June 12, and on June 26 in Fort Lauderdale. Reservations for Taco Bell's Drag Brunch Tour are available exclusively on Open Table to those 18 years and older. Fire Tier Rewards members will get early access to reservations and special menu items like the Mexican Pizza.
