Applesauce Bread Recipe

Ingredients
  • ½ cup vegetable shortening
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup molasses
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ¾ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ⅓ cup wheat germ
  • 1 cup cinnamon applesauce
  • ½ cup golden raisins
Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Spray 2 loaf pans with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In the bowl of a stand mixer, add the shortening and sugar. Beat until combined.
  3. Add the molasses and eggs. Beat until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, add the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. Whisk to combine.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to wet ingredients. Add the wheat germ and applesauce. Beat until combined.
  6. Add the raisins and, using a spoon, stir until combined.
  7. Pour the batter into prepared loaf pans.
  8. Bake for 45 minutes.
