- ½ cup vegetable shortening
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup molasses
- 2 eggs
- 1 ¾ cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ⅓ cup wheat germ
- 1 cup cinnamon applesauce
- ½ cup golden raisins
- Preheat the oven to 350 F. Spray 2 loaf pans with nonstick cooking spray.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, add the shortening and sugar. Beat until combined.
- Add the molasses and eggs. Beat until combined.
- In a separate bowl, add the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. Whisk to combine.
- Add the dry ingredients to wet ingredients. Add the wheat germ and applesauce. Beat until combined.
- Add the raisins and, using a spoon, stir until combined.
- Pour the batter into prepared loaf pans.
- Bake for 45 minutes.
