23 Starbucks Secret Menu Items You Won't Want To Miss

A daily Starbucks run seems to be the only thing keeping us going some days. While a morning pick-me-up is pretty much necessary, sometimes ordering the same old latte gets boring. The Starbucks menu is pretty extensive and even daunting — does anyone know the difference is between a cappuccino and a macchiato at 6 a.m.? If you're tortured by never knowing what to order from Starbucks, we've got a coveted list of items you actually won't even find on the menu. The Starbucks secret menu is probably even more complicated than the regular menu, so we've narrowed down the tastiest, prettiest, and most popular special items for you to order.

What you need to know about the Starbucks secret menu is that it actually is a secret. It's not an actual printed menu that Starbucks employees have to learn, so before you pull up to the drive through and demand a Squid Games Frappuccino, make sure you know what the drink is made of so you can explain it to the barista!

Here are 11 Starbucks secret menu items, what they taste like, and exactly how to order them.

Twix Frappuccino

This is arguably the drink that went viral and consequently made the Starbucks secret menu famous way before TikTok was even created. This frothy treat combines all of the best things in life: chocolate, caramel, hazelnut, and coffee. With a caramel frappuccino as a base, this candy-bar-themed drink also contains a sufficient amount of caffeine, so it can double as your morning pick-me-up!

Here's a popular variation of this secret menu item. To order the Twix Frappuccino, ask for a Caramel Frappuccino, add two pumps of hazelnut syrup, java chips, extra caramel sauce, and mocha drizzle on top. Feel free to add a couple more pumps of hazelnut if you decide to order a venti.

Butterbeer Frappuccino

Much like 14-year-old Harry Potter, we're pretty bummed that we can't visit the village of Hogsmeade. While you lament that you're never going to settle into a stool at the Three Broomsticks sipping on a frothy butterbeer, head over to Starbucks for the next best thing. The vast Harry Potter fandom is wonderful for a number of reasons, but their insurmountable devotion to putting a Harry Potter-themed spin on just about everything is perhaps their greatest attribute.

Contrary to its name, there is no beer in Butterbeer. If you find yourself at Universal Studios' Wizarding World of Harry Potter, you can order a creamy, sweet butterbeer with hints of butterscotch that is completely alcohol-free. The Starbucks secret menu version is similar, and it is one of few frappuccinos that contain no caffeine, so you can feel free to enjoy it at any time of day or night while you cozy up to your favorite film of the series.

To make this drink, you'll have to order a Vanilla Créme Frappuccino, add three pumps of caramel syrup, three pumps of toffee nut syrup, and caramel drizzle on top. For this drink to taste best, it's recommended to use a whole milk base, but swapping for oat milk as a dairy-free alternative will taste just as creamy.

White Chocolate Pink Drink

Fun fact: the uber-popular Starbucks Pink Drink actually started out as a secret menu item. The drink (which, according to the Starbucks menu, is made with a Strawberry Acai refresher base, coconut milk, and freeze-dried strawberry pieces) is now a regular menu item, but relentlessly creative Starbucks customers have found plenty of ways to shake it up.

The Pink Drink is great for vegans since it's made with coconut milk by default, but it's common to make the drink a bit more indulgent by swapping out coconut milk for whole milk or heavy cream. There are lots of ways to mix this drink up, and a popular variation includes the addition of sweet cream and four pumps of vanilla syrup.

For another variation fans call the White Chocolate Pink Drink, order the pink drink with three pumps each of white chocolate mocha sauce and vanilla. Note that white chocolate mocha sauce contains dairy, so skip it if you're looking to keep the drink as vegan-friendly as possible.

Squid Games Frappuccino

If you haven't watched Netflix's Squid Games yet, now's the time – Forbes reports it's the most-watched series the platform has ever created, after all! But before you press play, drive over to Starbucks for a Squid Games-inspired frappuccino. If you've watched it, you're probably feeling apprehensive as to how the gory show could inspire a tasty drink, but don't worry. There's nothing gory about this fruity, refreshing treat.

The themes in Squid Games are life and death, poverty, and morality. How would one incorporate this into a frappuccino recipe? We don't have the answer to that because the recipe was creatively imagined to invoke symbolism from the show characters and logo. With a fruity base and a chocolate topping, the taste of this drink almost resembles a chocolate-covered strawberry.

Start by ordering a Strawberry Créme Frappuccino; add a scoop of dragonfruit inclusion, two pumps of white chocolate mocha sauce, and a mocha drizzle on top.

Medicine Ball

You might be wondering if the Starbucks secret menu consists of nothing but sugar-packed frozen treats. (We don't blame you.) While there are tons of frappuccino variations, for those of you who are looking for something less sugary, there's a secret menu item that's actually meant to improve your health. The Medicine Ball is a hot, tea-based beverage that includes cold-fighting ingredients like citrus, honey, and mint. Honey and lemon are known to soothe sore throats, sharp spearmint opens nasal passageways and reduces nausea, and green tea contains a ton of health benefits.

This is a secret menu item that is totally uncomplicated to order since the Medicine Ball is basically on the Starbucks menu under the name of Honey Citrus Mint Tea. It started out as a secret menu item created and enjoyed by under-the-weather customers seeking comfort in a cup, and it's proven to be delicious and nutritious!

If you're interested in making it at home (or want to make sure your order is perfect), a Starbucks barista shared the Medicine Ball recipe with Mashed.

Thin Mint Frappuccino

Don't you wish it was always Girl Scout cookie season? Us too. In the meantime, to satisfy your Thin Mint craving, the Starbucks secret menu can come to your rescue. Chocolate is generally loved by everyone, but people get picky about their chocolate combinations. Chocolate and peanut butter are typically approved by the majority, as well as chocolate and caramel. Chocolate and mint, however, seem to be a favorite for a select group. It's one of those flavors that you either love or hate.

Well, we love it, and if you do too, you'll love this twist on a regular chocolate frappuccino. This recipe tastes like the perfect creamy combination of rich chocolate and mint. Order a Double Chocolaty Chip Créme Frappuccino with an extra pump of mocha sauce, add two pumps of peppermint syrup (double that if you order a venti), and on top of your whipped cream, ask for mocha cookie crumble topping and matcha powder for an extra pop of color and sweetness.

Pumpkin Pie Frappuccino

It doesn't matter what the calendar says, because autumn starts when Starbucks rolls out their pumpkin spice drinks and ends when they run out. (This usually means from the end of August through early January). It's a shame that pumpkin spice flavored items aren't available throughout the year, but we sure do savor them when they are around. Pumpkin spice products have skyrocketed in popularity over the years, and Starbucks has added lots of pumpkin-flavored menu items aside from the original Pumpkin Spice Latte, including the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, which is one of the company's most popular drinks.

A pumpkin spice-flavored frappuccino does exist on the Starbucks menu, but the secret menu version takes the pumpkin pie taste to the next level. The recipe goes like this: Order a Pumpkin Créme Frappuccino with heavy cream (if dairy isn't your thing, swapping cream for oat milk will still ensure your drink is frothy and creamy), add cinnamon dolce syrup (we'd recommend two pumps for grande and four for venti), cinnamon powder, and cinnamon dolce sprinkles on top. You'll be sippin' on this pie-in-a-cup all autumn long.

Chai-der

Chai is a traditional type of tea originally from India that typically consists of black tea leaves and a variety of spices. According to its website, Starbucks makes its Chai tea with black tea, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, cardamom, star anise, and cloves. Chai drinks are extremely popular at Starbucks, including the crowd-favorite Chai Tea Latte.

A Chai-der is a combination of Chai tea and apple cider, which creates a cozy, sweet drink with notes of cinnamon, caramel, and a bit of spice. What's nice about this drink is that it isn't overly sweet (but it can be if you add extra syrups), and the Chai makes it caffeinated, but only slightly, so it's not as strong as a coffee-based beverage would be. There are a few versions of this secret menu item, but we think this one tastes best: order a grande Caramel Apple Spice, but ask for only half of the cinnamon dolce syrup that it's usually made with, and substitute the other half for Chai concentrate.

Churro Frappuccino

Simple churros are deceptively simple treats. Essentially, it's fried dough topped with a mixture of cinnamon sugar. Most of the time, people enjoy these treats while walking around a fair or a theme park, but you can make them at home or enjoy them in different forms. For example, at Starbucks, you can get a churro-flavored frappuccino with a reasonably simple Starbucks secret menu recipe.

Begin by ordering a venti Caramel Frappuccino. If you're looking for some caffeine, you'll want that to be a regular frappuccino, but if you are hoping for something more milkshake-like, go for the créme type. Then, add three pumps of the cinnamon dolce syrup and request that your barista add caramel inside the cup and on top of the whipped cream. To finish the whole thing off, ask for a sprinkling of cinnamon.

The resulting drink will be pretty sweet. So only order this one if you want a near dessert-like beverage. If you're looking to cut the sugar in half, you can also request that your barista split the pumps of sweetener between caramel and cinnamon dolce. Rather than having the full complement of six pumps of caramel as well as extra pumps of cinnamon dolce, you'll have something a bit less saccharine.

Island Breeze Drink

Nothing quite completes a delightful beach vacation more than a delicious drink in hand. More often than not, these tasty treats involve some combination of fruit and coconut. To escape to the beach (at least drink-wise), consider ordering an Island Breeze Drink. This one is unique because it doesn't actually have any caffeine or tea in it. In fact, it is mostly juice. We love that because while it is caffeine-free, it's also devoid of dairy, making it a great treat at the end of the day or even a fun drink for your kiddo.

For this paradise in a cup, order a venti lemonade with half lemonade and half peach juice. Request coconut cold foam with pineapple-ginger syrup mixed right in. Your barista may require a little extra direction with that cold foam. If they do, request that they follow the same process they would for making typical cold foam but use coconut milk in place of dairy milk and pineapple-ginger syrup in place of other sweeteners.

Lavender Haze Drink

Taylor Swift's album "Midnights" had fans both old and new in an absolute chokehold after its release. One of the songs, "Lavender Haze," also makes for the perfect drink inspiration, especially since Starbucks' secret menu is no stranger to beverages with colors as their name. The Pink Drink even found its way onto the official menu. Only time will tell if Lavender Haze is destined for the same level of fame.

For this one, order an Iced Passion Tea with soy milk. When the soy milk gets added to the pink herbal tea, you'll end up with a milky-looking lavender color. Be sure to also request six pumps of vanilla in place of regular sweetener for a venti, four for a grande, and three for a tall. This drink is sweet, creamy, and just a little floral with that herbal tea. Plus, the Lavendar Haze is another one that has no caffeine since herbal tea is naturally decaffeinated.

TikTok Iced Chai Latte

Starbucks offers plenty of delicious chai beverages that are all tasty on their own. But sometimes, you want something with a little extra sweetener that feels just a bit more unique. The TikTok Iced Chai Latte would be the perfect candidate, and if we're being honest, it may be our favorite chai drink at Starbucks.

For this one, you'll start by ordering an iced chai latte. You could make an augmented version work with a hot chai, but it would need to miss a key component, so we prefer the iced option. Substitute oat milk in place of the default dairy milk for a smooth texture and a satisfying bit of nuttiness. Then, ask for the brown sugar syrup to be added. We recommend two pumps for tall, three if you're ordering a grande, and then a whopping four for the venti size. Top that whole thing off with vanilla sweet cream cold foam. If you're loving a different kind of cold foam, you could also with a different flavor. The pumpkin cold foam offered during the fall is pretty dynamite too.

Betty White Frappuccino

Betty White's star certainly shone brightly as a legendary personality. Many of her fans know her for her sweet personality and the delightful presence she brought to the screen. She felt like America's grandmother to some extent. To pay homage to this truly golden girl, get yourself a Starbucks pop culture drink called the Betty White Frappuccino for something perfectly comforting and decadent.

You'll begin by ordering a White Mocha Frappuccino in either the coffee or créme form. We tend to prefer coffee-based frappuccinos, but the créme one is the perfect base of a drink safe for a delicious, kid-friendly Starbucks drink. To that frappuccino, add a pump of hazelnut and one of vanilla. Then, ask for some caramel crunchies on top. If you're opting for no whip cream, those crunchies can also be added right on top of the drink. Be aware that the Betty White Frappuccino is very sweet, so it will feel more like a milkshake than a coffee drink.

Dole Whip Frappuccino

The Dole Whip is one of the most classic snacks at Walt Disney World. This cold treat is essentially a soft-serve fruit. There's no dairy in it, so it's closer to sorbet than ice cream, but it certainly behaves like ice cream on a cone and dish.

The next time you're craving one of these delightful Dole Whips, you can actually find something similar at Starbucks. To get that Dole Whip fix, order a Vanilla Bean Frappuccino. Although already delicious on its own, replace the milk of the Vanilla Bean Frappuccino with a mixture of sweet cream and Pineapple Refresher. All blended up, the drink will have a similar taste to a Dole Whip, but the texture won't be quite the same. We should mention that though the Dole Whip we love is safe for vegans, this Dole Whip Frappuccino won't be due to the sweet cream.

The Chocolate Mousse Cold Brew

We love breakfast, but there's one thing about it that has always struck a chord with us. Most people don't enjoy dessert as part of their earliest meal. For whatever reason, it seems to be drilled into us from the time we are very little. Perhaps that's why there's something extra fun about enjoying a rich coffee drink as part of your morning ritual. For those of us that never stopped wanting a little dessert with our pancakes, we offer the Chocolate Mousse Cold Brew from Starbucks.

This secret menu offering begins with a Chocolate Cream Cold Brew as the base drink. Then, ask your barista to line the cup with caramel drizzle and put some on top of the drink as well. Ask for some cookie crumble on top of that for a little bit of crunch and texture. We love this drink because it is both decadent and isn't too different from the base drink. Often, secret menu items derive so much from the original offering that they become nearly unrecognizable. This, however, remains something familiar but nevertheless extra special.

Minnie Mouse Frappuccino

Often, secret menu items get their names for what they taste like. In other instances, the names reflect what a drink resembles. With the Minnie Mouse Frappuccino, it is the latter. This bright pink drink has little bits of java chip in it and a white and black top with whipped cream and cookie topping. As a result, at least in color, it resembles the iconic Mouse in her pink dress.

For a tasty frappuccino that will have you wondering where Mickey's drink is, start with a White Mocha Cream Frappuccino. Add to that a little bit of strawberry puree and a nice scoop of java chips as well as dragon fruit inclusions. For the topping, ask for some mocha cookie topping to be sprinkled on the whipped cream. We recommend the cream frappuccino rather than the coffee-based one for this because otherwise, the pink wouldn't be quite as vibrant. However, if you're less concerned with the vibrancy of the pink color, you could opt to make this one a coffee base rather than a créme base.

Honey Peach Freeze

Among the many delicious drinks Starbucks offers is that of a Strawberry Lemonade. This lemonade is traditionally made with ice, strawberry puree, and lemonade before it is all blended up. Of course, you can take the blended lemonade concept and include many different flavors. The Honey Peach Freeze secret menu item, for example, takes lemonade and adds a bunch of delicious flavors to it.

If you are ordering in person, begin by requesting a Blended Lemonade with peach juice added to it. Ask that your barista add one pump of honey blend sweetener, and then drizzle some agave to the sides of your cup before topping it all off with vanilla sweet cream. Be sure to note that the sweet cream should top off your drink rather than get blended in with the lemonade and juice. If you are ordering over the app, you'll need to augment the blended Strawberry Lemonade by replacing the strawberry puree with peach juice. Currently, there is no option for a base drink of lemonade, so this is the best way to make it work in the app.

Barbie Drink

We know Barbie for many things: great clothes, feet stuck in a relevé, and, of course, having worked in every job you can possibly think of. And chances are good that if you think of a particular color when you think of this blond bombshell, it's pink. So perhaps it's no surprise that Starbucks' secret menu item, the Barbie Drink, is bright pink.

For this fun and fabulous mixture, begin with a tall Vanilla Bean Créme Frappuccino. Ask for it to be made breve with two pumps of vanilla and strawberry puree and mango dragonfruit inclusions. On top of that whipped cream, sprinkle dragonfruit topping for a bright pink finish. This mixture is ultra-sweet with a delightful creamy base. The breve addition also helps ensure that creamy texture.

TikTok White Mocha

Like the TikTok Chai, this TikTok White Mocha may become our favorite way to order a delectable white mocha drink. Of course, we absolutely love white mocha as is, but the many additions this recipe has makes this one even better.

Start by ordering a venti Iced White Mocha, but remove the whipped cream on it. Request that your barista add five pumps of caramel syrup and a hefty drizzle of caramel around the inside of your cup. Then, put vanilla sweet cream on top with an extra drizzle over the top of the cream. We love whipped cream on our mochas, but the sweet cream cold foam in place of the whipped cream makes this one that much more smooth and milky. If you're looking for something ultra sweet, this is it, but if you want to take the sweetness load down a little more, consider cutting down the pumps of white mocha a little. After all, you are adding caramel to it, too, so it's plenty sweet enough.

Skinny Yellow Drink

Like the famous Pink Drink and the Lavender Haze, the real magic of Starbucks's Yellow Drink comes from plant-based milk. In this case, as in the case of the Pink Drink, the addition of coconut is the real magic. For this one, order a venti Green Tea Lemonade, splitting the lemonade between coconut milk and lemonade. For the sweetener, instead of regular sweetener, ask for a packet of agave and two packets of stevia. Shaking the whole thing up will help distribute that stevia and agave nicely throughout the drink.

This pale yellow color is charming and sunny. It would make the perfect tropical drink or even an ideal iced drink to ring in the spring or summer season. We love the light pineapple flavor and a little bit of tart burst from the lemonade. Plus, you get all the benefits of green tea and hydrating powers of coconut milk.

Oreo Frappuccino

Oreo may be milk's favorite cookie, but it also makes a delicious frappuccino. There are a few variations of the Oreo Frappuccino, and most of them vary due to the availability of ingredients and seasonal offerings. No matter how you make it, as long as there is some combination of black, white, and cookie crumble, you are certainly onto something. Of course, the Oreo cookies won't come on top, but you could bring your own for a terrific social media picture.

For a basic Oreo Frappuccino, order a White Mocha Créme Frappuccino and ask your barista to include java chips. This is a pretty good fallback mixture in case other seasonal offerings aren't available, so we like this one a lot. If you have access to a Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino, that also makes a great base for a delicious Oreo drink. For this one, go ahead and substitute white mocha sauce in place of regular mocha sauce. This will give you a little bit of a lighter drink. We also like this one because it is coffee based rather than cream based.

Nutella Frappuccino

One of our favorite things to pair with chocolate is hazelnut. It's probably why we enjoy Nutella so much. At Starbucks, it's easy to capture these flavors together in one delicious frappuccino, and the combination really only requires only a couple of additions.

For the simplest way to order a Nutella Frappuccino, ask for a Mocha Frappuccino and then replace some of the pumps with hazelnut syrup. If you want a tall one, we recommend going with two pumps of mocha and one pump of hazelnut. For a grande, you would ask for two pumps of each, or, if you're feeling comfortable, this would ideally be a pump and a half of hazelnut. For a venti, ask for four mocha pumps and two hazelnut pumps. You're aiming for roughly a third of your pumps to be hazelnut. Be sure to also ask for some mocha drizzle on top for a little more chocolate. The resulting drink is chocolatey and a little nutty, and it's absolutely mouthwatering.

Pink-a-Colada

When a secret menu drink finds itself on the official menu, it's achieved the goal all secret menu drinks long for. If that drink is then used as a base drink for another secret menu drink, then perhaps it reaches some other status altogether. However you categorize it, we hope you'll try the Pink-a-Colada, a super secret menu item.

For this one, you'll begin by ordering the Pink Drink. We recommend ordering a venti to make all the numbers work well with this one. Ask for it without the inclusions. Then, add four pumps of the delicious and tart pineapple-ginger syrup and ask your barista to top it off with vanilla sweet cream cold foam made with both strawberry puree and two pumps of that same pineapple ginger syrup blended right in. This sweet cream should go on top of the drink after it has been shaken up rather than shaken with the drink. The resulting pale pink beverage has a delicious pineapple, coconut, and strawberry flavor that will have you forever giving up the original Pink Drink for this new alternative.
