Ingredients
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 1 pound green beans, cleaned and trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 400 F and line a rimmed baking sheet with foil.
  2. Place the bacon on the foil-lined baking sheet and bake it in the oven for 7 minutes.
  3. Remove and set it aside on a paper towel lined plate to absorb the excess fat.
  4. Meanwhile, bring a large pot of water to a boil.
  5. Place the green beans in the boiling water and boil for 2 minutes.
  6. Drain the green beans and plunge them into an ice bath.
  7. Drain them again and dry the beans with a towel.
  8. Place the green beans in a large bowl and drizzle them with oil and sprinkle on some salt. Toss to coat.
  9. Line a baking sheet with parchment or foil.
  10. Clear a work surface to make the green bean bundles. Lay out a piece of bacon horizontally. Place 8 to 10 green beans on one end of the bacon and roll the strip to make a bundle. Secure with a toothpick and place the bundle on the lined baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining bacon and beans.
  11. In a small bowl mix together the brown sugar and garlic powder with a fork and sprinkle the mixture on top of the green bean bundles, concentrating on the bacon.
  12. Bake the bundles in the oven for 15 to 17 minutes until the bacon is crisp.
