Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts, washed, trimmed, and halved
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Directions
  1. Place the maple syrup, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice in a small bowl and whisk to combine. Set aside.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large heavy bottomed skillet, preferably cast iron, on medium until hot.
  3. Place the Brussels sprouts in the skillet in a single layer, cut side down. Work in batches if you don't have a large enough pan to avoid overcrowding the pan, or the sprouts will steam instead of sear. Cook undisturbed for 5-7 minutes, until the bottoms of the sprouts are seared.
  4. Season the Brussels sprouts with salt and black pepper and flip them. Cook for another 5-6 minutes, until the other sides are browned, stirring occasionally during the final minutes if necessary to brown them evenly on all sides.
  5. Transfer the Brussels sprouts to a bowl, pour the maple syrup mixture over them, and gently toss until evenly coated. Taste and adjust for salt and pepper if needed.
  6. Allow the Brussels sprouts to cool slightly before serving warm.
