Ingredients
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • ½ cup filtered water
  • 1 teaspoon flaky sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon aged rum
  • 1 vanilla bean, split
Directions
  1. Combine the sugar and water in a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Bring to a simmer, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Reduce the heat and maintain a gentle simmer for 3 minutes.
  4. Remove from the heat, and add the salt, rum, and vanilla bean.
  5. Cool completely before transferring the syrup to a sterilized glass container.
  6. Refrigerate for up to 4 weeks.
