Ingredients
8 ounces strawberries, sliced
1 cup water
1 cup granulated sugar
¾ cup tequila
2 ounces freshly squeezed lime juice
2 cups grapefruit soda
Directions
Add the sliced strawberries, water, and sugar to a large saucepan. Cook over medium-high heat until boiling.
Reduce to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes until the liquid is dark red.
Strain the syrup into a bowl, making sure not to press down on the strawberries so the liquid doesn't become cloudy.
Let the syrup cool down.
Add tequila, lime juice, and 1 cup of strawberry syrup to a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice.
Shake well, then strain evenly into 4 highball glasses with ice.
Top evenly with grapefruit soda and garnish with strawberries and lime if desired.
