Ingredients
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • oil, for frying
  • 4 tablespoons gochujang
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
Directions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, sea salt, fresh grated ginger, and black pepper. Stir well to create the coating mixture.
  2. Add the wings to the bowl, and toss the wings in the mixture until they are evenly coated.
  3. In a deep pot or skillet, heat several inches of oil (enough to submerge several wings) over medium-high heat or 375 F.
  4. Carefully add the coated chicken wings to the hot oil in batches, frying them until they are partially cooked and lightly golden. Remove and set them aside to cool for a few minutes.
  5. Once the wings have cooled slightly, return them to the hot oil and fry again until they are deep golden brown and extra crispy. Remove the wings and set them aside.
  6. In a small bowl, combine the gochujang, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and red pepper flakes to make the sauce. Mix until well-combined.
  7. Drizzle the sauce on the wings until they are fully coated.
  8. Sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions on the wings as optional garnishes.
