Dolly Parton Announced 4 New Box Mixes Joining Her Duncan Hines Line

Dolly Parton is so beloved she's earned the right to do whatever she wants; the country music legend is used to using her star power in unexpected ways, whether it's as silly and fun as opening up an eponymous theme park or playing an unexpected role in helping create one of the COVID-19 vaccines (via NPR). As My Modern Met reports she's even used her money to open Eagle Mountain Sanctuary, a wildlife preserve for bald eagles that won the icon a Partnership Award from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. By those high standards making a line of cake mixes with Duncan Hines should be a piece of, well, you know.

Parton is no stranger to helping people in the kitchen either. She told Parade her signature dish at home is chicken and dumplings, sharing the recipe online. In 2006, Parton even published a cookbook called Dolly's Dixie Fixin's, which features family recipes delivered with her signature Southern flair. With so many baked goods being regional symbols of the South — think cornbread and chess pie — a line of baking mixes seems an obvious choice for the irrepressible entrepreneur. That shouldn't make her Duncan Hines line of mixes any less exciting for fans of the singer, or just tasty cake in general, and now four new recipes will be joining the party.

Dolly Parton and Duncan Hines are releasing new cornbread, biscuit, and brownie mixes

Dolly Parton released her first round of baking mixes in early 2022, featuring two cake flavors, banana, and coconut. They were a big hit, with Epicurious reporting that they sold out within 15 minutes of going on sale, and were also just genuinely good cake mixes that were a noticeable improvement over other boxed options. That success has inspired a whole new round of recipes for Parton and Duncan Hines, which she recently announced on Twitter. According to PR Newswire, this round of mixes will include the savory Southern staples cornbread and buttermilk biscuits along with other sweet options. The new dessert recipes are two flavors of brownie: fudgy and caramel turtle.

The new additions to Parton's line will launch in January, but fans will also get the chance to buy a limited-edition Dolly Parton Baking Collection directly from Duncan Hines starting February 8th. The kit includes all four of the new baking mixes, as well as a "What Would Dolly Do?" tea towel and spatula, and recipe cards featuring the mixes in dishes like jalapeño cornbread.

If the reception for the earlier Dolly Parton boxed mixes is any indication, these items are likely going to sell out fast, so mark your calendar. While anyone who loves a good brownie or biscuit should be excited, it's also the perfect gift for any Dolly Parton lover, even if that person is just you.
