Boston City Guide

Where to eat, drink and shop in Boston

Boston isn't all historic foot trails, extremely enthusiastic sports fans and heaping bowls of chowdah (much as we love it for all of those things).

The past couple of years have brought an absolute explosion of exciting restaurants, bars and boutiques to the city's flourishing food scene–and our Boston City Guide will tell you exactly where to go, right now.

Most of the action is happening in surrounding towns: There's Tim Maslow's freewheeling Ribelle in Brookline, the elevated German cuisine Tim Wiechmann is serving at Somerville's Bronwyn, and Tony Maws' new Kirkland Tap & Trotter in Somerville, which joins his now-classic Craigie On Main.

We love that Boston's got both a big city feel and a close-knit chef community that's devoted to supporting New England purveyors year-round.

So while you'll still find fresh, sparkling seafood–and raw bars aplenty–it's now just as easy to track down an inspired scallion pancake sandwich or handcrafted pasta as it is to find that lobstah roll.
