Creating a cocktail that's both extremely drinkable and interesting is no easy feat. Gitane's Alex Smith achieves this by adding to tequila two ingredients you don't customarily see paired with the spirit: sweet vermouth and homemade grapefruit marmalade.
Ice
1½ ounces blanco tequila
1 ounce sweet vermouth
1 ounce lime juice
½ ounce homemade or store-bought grapefruit marmalade
Grapefruit zest
In a shaker filled with ice, combine the tequila, vermouth, lime juice and marmalade. Shake well. Strain into a double rocks glass full of fresh ice. Garnish with grapefruit zest. Serve.
