Communications Associate

Location: Tasting Table Headquarters in Soho, Manhattan, New York
Desired Start Date: Immediately

TastingTable.com is looking for a Communications Associate to help support the business side of our operation headquartered in New York City. This full-time position requires a high degree of organizational and communications skills, both written and oral, in addition to a positive, pro-active attitude and obsessive attention to detail. The Communications Associate reports to the Senior Events Manager and will serve a vital role in coordination of event efforts (advertorial/editorial/revenue generating), with a particular focus on PR. This position requires at least two years experience in PR and event production. Motivation, resourcefulness and enthusiasm are musts. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee day-to-day aspects of multiple sponsored events, including pre-event logistics, contract negotiation, event promotion & marketing, vendor relations, sponsor coordination, on-site execution and post project recaps and surveys
  • Liaise with sponsors to ensure all sponsorship benefits are being delivered
  • Develop a robust marketing and PR strategy for each event activation
  • Pitching and monitoring media for placements, maintaining media lists and drafting pitches for national and regional outreach
  • Conduct research on publications, reporters and key trends
  • Secure media coverage for Tasting Table's house events
  • Fulfill necessary administrative responsibilities, include meeting scheduling, travel planning, expense reporting and vendor payments

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2-3 years of experience in event planning/management
  • EXCELLENT interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • STRONG attention to detail
  • A proven ability to implement an event from concept to completion, paying close attention to every detail while meeting deadlines and budgets
  • A willingness to get your hands dirty and a can-do attitude
  • Energetic, personable and good-humored
  • Above-average computer knowledge (Mac experience preferred), including Google Docs, Photoshop, Pages, Keynote, and general Internet savvy
  • Ability to work as a team player and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • A self-starter mentality with a solid sense of judgement

Partnerships Intern

Location: Tasting Table Headquarters in Soho, Manhattan, New York

TastingTable.com is seeking an intern in New York City for the Partnership Marketing role. This paid internship will focus on the business side of our operations, specifically Tasting Table's brand partnerships team. This intern will support the team's efforts to develop and maintain third party partnerships with the purpose of acquiring subscribers

Potential interns should be willing to commit to coming to the Tasting Table office in Soho at least 20 hours Monday through Friday for a duration of four months: September 2014 - December 2014.

This position requires an obsessive attention to detail, excellent research and writing skills with a positive, go-getter attitude. Motivation, resourcefulness and enthusiasm are musts as many of the projects are time-sensitive, so prioritization and time-management skills are essential to maintain efficiency.

Interested candidates do not need to be students in order to apply, but Tasting Table will work with college students on the process of doing the internship for school credit.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the workflow of marketing campaigns, both for Tasting Table and brand partners, to ensure they are executed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assisting in copywriting for marketing programs including proofreading to ensure final materials are within brand guidelines and messaging
  • Tracking, monitoring and reporting results to evaluate and improve the efficiencies of the marketing campaigns and channels used
  • Creating meeting agendas/recaps/call sheets as well as daily reports
  • Identifying partners with like-minded digital properties
  • Researching competitive initiatives and key trends
  • Ad hoc projects to streamline business operation functions within the Marketing Team

 

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the digital food and drink space and a passion for media
  • A love for talking to and meeting new people
  • Advanced computer knowledge (Mac experience preferred), including Google Docs, Photoshop, and general Internet savvy
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with Excel
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; setting priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, including perfect grammar/punctuation/diction when writing copy
  • Self-starter who can work both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to think both creatively and strategically

Editorial Intern

Location: Tasting Table Headquarters in Soho, Manhattan, New York

TastingTable.com, the daily email publication devoted to the best of food and drink culture, is seeking an editorial intern in New York City. This paid internship will offer opportunities to experience the entire editorial process. The intern will work closely with his or her editor to provide fact-checking support, as well as assistance with research, editorial administrative duties, and possibly writing and photo production.

This personalized program will be specifically developed with the intern to reflect his or her own interests, with the goal of helping him or her build hands-on experience.

Potential interns should be willing to commit to coming to the Tasting Table office in Soho at least 10 hours per week (Monday through Friday) for a duration of at least three months. This position requires obsessive attention to detail as well as strong research and writing skills.

The intern should have good knowledge of the New York City and national food scenes.

Maturity and motivation are musts: Most of the work will be done independently, thus organization and time management skills are essential. 

Interested candidates do not need to be students in order to apply, but Tasting Table will work with college students on the process of doing the internship for school credit.

Responsibilities:

  • Fact-checking
  • Research for Dining Dispatch and other editorial content
  • Assisting our director of photography with photo shoots
  • Assisting the recipe testing process by procuring materials
  • Managing Tasting Table's cookbook library
  • General administrative editorial responsibilities

  • A passion for food, drink and dining, and good working knowledge of the New York City and national food scenes
  • Detail-oriented, with strong research and writing skills
