TT Leftovers: July Edition

The month's top tips for staying cool (and dry)

Capricious skies have kept us scrambling for umbrellas one moment and sunscreen the next. Whatever Mother Nature delivers in the weeks to come, revisit this month's top stories for the best ways to stay busy when the weather holds--or wait it out when it doesn't.

• Haute popsicles are this summer's trendiest frozen treat (sorry, ice cream). And the People's Pops Greenmarket-driven 'sicles have melted our hearts. If you can't track the pops down, make the easy recipe at home.

• Different summertime outings call for different kinds of wine (what works with barbecue will overwhelm your shore dinner), so we teamed up with Crush to assemble this all-purpose six-pack. (Hurry! There are only a few left.)

• With the city's food-truck scene offering everything from burgers and tacos to cupcakes and waffles, we thought all the ideas for portable food were already on offer. Wrong! Check out the Schnitzel & Things truck for an authentic (and excellent) Austrian meal on wheels.

• It's raining, it's pouring...who cares when you can bowl away the day (and dance away the night) at Brooklyn Bowl? Between games, work your way through the Blue Ribbon-bred menu, which excels at fried chicken and reimagined alley snacks.

• We can't get enough of The Highline (neither can the rest of the city, it seems). End your next trip to the elevated park with an alfresco, farm-forward meal on the patio at The Standard Grill.
