Explore New York's best eats from the saddle
The cycling-based web series Pedaling has brought new meaning to the phrase "meals on wheels."
In each installment of the show--which launched January 5--one of three food-mad bicyclists (Morimoto sous-chef Chris Jaeckle, spice importer Behroush "The Saffron King" Sharifi, or U.S. road-cycling champ Meredith Miller) cruises the streets in search of New York's finest chow, cocktails and beer.
After watching Miller (pictured) dine on Belgian waffles at the Wafels & Dinges truck in the latest episode, you can check out the other hosts' favorite on-the-go eats--accessible by two wheels or two feet.
Chris Jaeckle: "On Sunday afternoons, I ride up to Dyckman Fields on the way Upper West Side. There are Mexican soccer games going on all over, and ‘maybe illegal' carts selling pork tacos with cracklings." Inwood Hill Park, Dyckman St. (at the Hudson River); nycgovparks.org
Behroush Sharifi: "The Ear Inn is my favorite bar, where I can drink fresh beer and eat exceptional fish dishes until late at night. In the summertime, you can sit outside and watch the sunset over the Hudson River, then ride in the bike lane along the waterfront to Battery Park for breathtaking views." Ear Inn, 326 Spring St. (at Greenwich St.); 212-226-9060 or earinn.com
