Wing-a-Ding-Ding

Bring these haute chicken wings home for game day

We love eating chicken wings while we're watching football, as long as we don't have to cook them. And we're just plain tired of the Buffalo treatment. So for this year's bowl games, we rounded up our favorites from some unexpected sources. All are available for takeout; just call ahead.

Momofuku Noodle Bar David Chang cold-smokes his wings (pictured, $10) until they're fall-apart tender, then crisps the skin on a hot griddle. A topping of garlic and pickled chiles cuts through the smoky richness and offers a pleasing contrast of flavors. 171 First Ave. (between 10th and 11th sts.); 212-777-7773 or momofuku.com

Kasadela This Japanese restaurant sells more chicken wings each night than anything else—and it's clear why. Its deep-fried wings ($3.50) are tossed with a peppery soy glaze, rendering the skin chewy and the meat just spicy enough. 647 E. 11th St. (at Avenue C); 212-777-1582 or kasadela.com

Fatty Crab The wings here get a Malaysian treatment: a sticky lacquer infused with chiles, coriander and cumin. They're more sweet than spicy, but satisfying all the same. 643 Hudson St. (at Horatio St.); 212-352-3590 or fattycrab.com

Spice Market For something spicier, try the Thai-style fried wings ($9), doused in a spicy dressing made with chiles, lime and fish sauce and served with slices of cool mango to soothe the palate. 403 W. 13th St. (at Ninth Ave.); 212-675-2322 or spicemarketnewyork.com
