Cooper Avenue And Lagniappe - Art Basel Provisions

Provisions for a busy Art Basel weekend

Update: Cooper Avenue is now closed. Lagniappe is open.

Art Basel arrives next week, with its flurry of overlapping spectacles and parties.

You will need more than cocktails and passed hors d'oeuvres to fortify you.

So gather your bearings at these buzzy newcomers, located near a couple of the hubs of Art Basel activity:

Cooper Avenue (Miami Beach): Walk from the Miami Beach Convention Center to this industrial-chic restaurant. Skip the lunch counter in favor of a sidewalk table and eclectic plates like sausage with pickled mustard seeds and addicting celery-root purée ($9), or lemony lobster salad dressed with avocado ($18). Or, take your food next door for a picnic on the grounds of the New World Symphony. This restaurant is now closed.

Lagniappe (Midtown): After visiting the constellation of Midtown art fairs, unwind at Lagniappe, an exceptionally priced wine bar and live music venue inspired by Bacchanal in New Orleans. The 2010 Edmunds St. John Bone-Jolly Gamay Noir ($26 for 750 ml) is low-key but charming, mirroring the ambience of the house. Try the versatile wine with smoky grilled churrasco ($12) or with a cheese plate ($5 and up). 3425 NE Second Ave., Miami; 305-576-0108 or lagniappehouse.com
