Such culinary insights from musicians and, conversely, musical insights from the likes of our own Roy Choi and Momofuku’s David Chang await you in the new, free L.A.-based podcast Food Is the New Rock.
Founded by Zach Brooks of Midtown Lunch and KCRW DJ Chuck P, the show is based less on the popular notion that chefs have taken the place of rock stars than on observing an overlap between the two worlds: for example, the music writer turned restaurant critic (Jonathan Gold) or the musician who throws elaborate Thai dinner parties (James Murphy).
The pair has released five episodes thus far, so you can catch up on conversations with Jonathan Gold and Superchunk while awaiting the next release: a conversation with Los Angeles’ own Har Mar Superstar and Father John Misty (who may or may not have his own pizza podcast).
