Burger Up
Comme Ça's new Tuesday-night specials
Chef David Myers' most famous dish at his French restaurant is a very American burger.
Served at Comme Ça since the restaurant opened in 2007, the burger is considered by some to be one of the finer specimens in Los Angeles.
Now, the restaurant's new Tuesday-night burger salvo is giving fans plenty of reasons to revisit the brasserie. In addition to the Comme Ça Burger ($18), six others are available.
There's the maximalist Late-Night Breakfast ($14), the pork patty served on an English muffin with white gravy and a fried egg, or the blue-cheese-smothered Black-and-Blue (pictured; $18).
Our favorite was the Lamb Merguez Burger ($16); the liberally spiced meat is accompanied by the sweet-tart combination of roasted peppers and caramelized onions.
The Cellar Finds, a short list of vintage bottles offered at a healthy discount, would make a grand high-low pairing, to be sure. On the other hand, the 2007 Baronnie Madeleine Chinon from Couly-Dutheil ($13 for a glass; $52 for 750 ml), all dusty berry brambles and pepper, was perfectly suited to our burger binge.
But if Sine Qua Non's 2005 Grenache is, at $425, your idea of a Tuesday-night wine, then maybe you'd be willing to pour a glass for us? We'll pay for the burgers.
