The tastiest deals are found at The Park's supper-club nights

When the liquor licensing board gets tough in L.A., the tough come up with new ways to serve loyal customers without getting closed down. Such is the story with The Park, whose BYO supper-club nights offer some of the best deals in town.

With chef Josh Siegel's seasonal American bistro food and a staff that treats all newcomers like regulars, The Park is the quintessential neighborhood restaurant. And although the reasonable prices drew a loyal fan base, the lack of a liquor license put a dent in its business.

So Siegel and the other owners started a "members-only" supper club on Tuesday and Friday nights: Once you join, you can legally bring your own beer or wine to the Echo Park restaurant. And there's no corkage fee.

To become a member, simply call the restaurant to RSVP for the special nights. When you arrive, you'll be added to "the list." It's a good list to be on, too: On Tuesdays, the three-course fixed menu is only $15; on Fridays, you can select any three dishes from the regular menu for $20.

Siegel's cumin-dusted seared scallops, white bean soup with pesto, or chipotle pulled pork with corn pudding perfectly fit the price and place. And once The Park is fully licensed (hopefully this month), the deals won't disappear--they'll just taste sweeter with a reasonably priced wine list.
