Beneficial blends from The Teaologist
The benefits of drinking tea aren’t necessarily news.
But we love what New York City-based The Teaologist is brewing: Started by tea obsessive Jennie Ripps, the company creates blends ($7 to $19 for 2 to 4 ounces) from simply tea leaves, herbs, spices and whole fruits, with a focus on the ingredients’ health and mood-altering benefits.
Wake up with naturally energizing The Charlotte, an invigorating mix of dried lemon verbena and peppermint. The rooibos berry tisane, a fruity concoction of rooibos plus strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, hydrates and, according to Ripps, can help to improve skin and digestive concerns. And with its coconut notes, the intense, antioxidant-rich Coco Chai purportedly can calm sore throats and body aches.
Ripps will also create custom blends, based on taste preferences and ailments individuals are looking to address. And because she has consulted with bars and restaurants, you can also find recipes for tea cocktails, like the tequila-laced First Kiss, on her website.
To which we say: Bottoms up.
