Dram Stop
Irish Whiskey Public House pours pairings
Dram hounds, note: More than 80 whiskeys dominate the drinks menu at Irish Whiskey Public House.
Choose from your favorite Scotch, bourbon and Canadian whiskeys--but the most unique offerings are from the bar's namesake island.
As proof, owners Sam Harper, Reese Gardner and Michael Knapp--who also own Mighty Pint--shared their favorite undiscovered whiskeys from the Emerald Isle:
Connemara Turf Mor Small Batch Peated ($27 for 2 ounces): This young, limited-edition whiskey bursts with violet, burnt-sugar and vanilla notes. Heavily peated, the malt also has enough earthiness to stand up to the truffle-and-lobster macaroni and cheese, which arrives as a side dish alongside the pan-seared filet and butter-poached lobster tail ($54 or market price).
Jameson Select Reserve Small Batch ($19 for 2 ounces): Aged in first-fill sherry and bourbon casks, this batch-distilled liquor has warm, Moroccan-inspired aromas of date, walnut and cinnamon. Pan-seared halibut ($25) with chanterelles and a grassy artichoke-goat-cheese sauce balance the drink's winter notes.
Knappogue Castle 12-Year ($9 for 2 ounces): Biscuity, with marshmallow and marzipan flavors, this spirit is an ideal complement to the Irish custard ($7). In a fitting Irish finish, the dish is topped with a Jameson-infused caramel sauce.
