Bourbon Street

A slew of new drinking options at Jerry's

For nearly a decade, Jerry's has been about doing everything big.

The menu is--and has always been--loaded with 100 different sandwiches and over 150 craft beers. But the whiskey list was only six-deep.

Until now, that is: The Division Street sandwich spot recently amped up its whiskey program and now boasts a new list featuring more than 50 labels.

As with the restaurant's beers, the whiskeys are North American, with an emphasis on bourbon and a solid selection of rye. It also holds a smattering of draughts outside those classifications, such as white whiskeys from local distillery Koval and Wisconsin's Death's Door, and Boureye, a rye-bourbon blend from High West.

Koval's Lion's Pride Dark Wheat ($6 for 1.25 ounces) has taken the place of Jameson as the house shot, but the majority of the list is populated with sipping fodder, like Buffalo Trace, Maker's 46 and Whistle Pig.

The rarest find is the lone bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 23-year, a silky, limited-edition bourbon ($35 for 1.25 ounces) that Wine and Spirits named "Spirit of the Year."

The architect of the list, Jerry's manager Trey Elder, puts it succinctly: "We're all about options at Jerry's." One hundred sandwiches and 52 whiskeys adds up to 5,200 possible pairings. Options indeed.
