A Massachusetts native, Mike Lata cooked at The Black Dog Tavern on Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, then moved to New Orleans to work for the Brennan family. He went on to cook in Atlanta at the now-closed Ciboulette, then moved to Charleston, South Carolina, in 1998, where he worked at Anson. Lata opened Fig in 2001, then The Ordinary in January 2013, both in Charleston.
