Katsuya has launched a happy hour from 6 to 9 p.m. on weekdays. Selected cocktails will cost $6 within the 6 o'clock hour, $7 during the 7 o'clock hour, and so on. Starters and specialty starters on the menu, including creamy rock shrimp, and crispy rice with tuna, will be half-price. See a .pdf of the menu.
The new Coral Gables shop is selling cold-pressed juices as well as breakfast combos, including cold-brew Panther Coffee and toasted bread from Zak the Baker with nut butters or local preserves.
Frances Alfonso, who has dubbed herself "La Reina de las Fritas" ("The Queen of Fritas"), has opened a restaurant in Homestead. The menu includes fritas, the Cuban take on a hamburger, as well as a frita dog.
The owners have shuttered their Midtown restaurant, citing a rent that was too damn high.
The soul-food spot in the old Sra. Martinez space is closed. Its sister restaurant in South Beach, Cooper Avenue, remains empty--although a Facebook post in Dec. announced that the closing was "temporary."
