Commissary at The Line Hotel

Roy Choi adds to Pot and his lobby bar/late-night café, opening his third concept at The Line Hotel in Koreatown. Commissary is an ode to the seasons and simplicity; vegetables are the main event, but there's meat, too. On the menu, ingredients are called out with illustrations and preparations du jour: Picture corn grilled with spicy red sauce or schnitzel paired with garlic green sauce and arugula.

Sushi Nozawa expands with a brand-new Downtown location that specializes in hand rolls. The 25-seat counter serves the famed blue crab roll, as well as salmon, scallop, yellowtail, cucumber and more. The rolls can be ordered á la carte ($4 to $7) or in three- ($10.50) to five-piece ($17.50) set menus.

Kush Sake Bar

Not simply a traditional izakaya, Echo Park's new Kush gets playful with Japanese pub grub. On the menu, you'll find sweet and buttery Japanese meatballs served with mashed potatoes and poached egg, as well as seafood fries: deep-fried mussels, shrimp and corn topped with Cajun spices and cheese. The dinner-only restaurant also has a concise sake list.
