Where To Eat Lunch During New York Fashion Week 2015

Where to grab lunch during New York Fashion Week

Before sitting down for yet another runway show at New York Fashion Week, slip away from the chatty masses and refuel with a proper lunch. Whether it's a quick bite or a martini-and-oyster mini feast, here are five spots to find afternoon reprieve.

Choosing between all the eateries at Chelsea Market can be daunting, but one of the most alluring is Los Tacos No. 1, a Mexico-meets-California shrine to corn tortillas stuffed with the likes of grilled steak and addictive marinated pork. Wash them down with a quenching hibiscus agua fresca.

Chances are this jam-packed week won't leave any room for the America Is Hard to See exhibition at the gleaming new Whitney, but do take the time to drop into its captivating restaurant, Untitled. Chef Michael Anthony makes smoked spare ribs with apricot that somehow still leave room for one of the city's finest and fudgiest chocolate chip cookies.

Surrounding oneself with more clothing may seem foolish in the early September sun, yet Stella 34 Trattoria—and its Florentine gelati—are worth the wander inside Macy's. Along with Empire State Building views, the department store's light-filled space stars Jarett Appell's charred Neapolitan-style pies. Out of the wood-burning ovens emerge renditions strewn with toppings like salami picante and broccoli rabe.

Dinner at Keens Steakhouse is nothing short of a long, magical affair, but if there's no room on the itinerary for an 8 p.m. mutton chop, be sure to slither in during lunchtime. The atmosphere will be just as old school and clubby, except your blue cheese-dressed iceberg lettuce wedges and prime sirloin steak sandwiches will be served amid a far calmer atmosphere.

Whether it's the smoky portobello burger laced with bourbon BBQ sauce, air-baked sweet potato fries or quinoa tacos, everything at vegan chef Chloe Coscarelli's by CHLOE is a celebration of plant-based cuisine. Relax for a spell with a cold-pressed beet-apple-romaine-lemon-ginger juice and the maddening swirl of fashion soirees will feel far, far away.
