Sea Lion Found Snoozing In San Diego Restaurant

Restaurant workers in San Diego found a baby sea lion snoozing in a booth this morning

The team at high-end San Diego restaurant The Marine Room had a special visitor this morning. A sea lion pup had managed to sneak into the beach club's restaurant and fallen asleep like the little child she is in one of the fancy gray booths (she clearly got the dress attire memo). Chef Bernard Guillas posted a photo to Facebook saying "[she] was a little bit early for [her] high tide breakfast reservation."

Leslie Tovar, a manager of another restaurant in the same beach club property, told the New York Times that the tyke was found in "Booth 65. Which happens to be one of the best seats in the house, on the waterfront next to the window."

Ultimately, the restaurant team called in SeaWorld rescuers, who woke the lady from her slumber and took her to a care facility where she is being treated for malnourishment. Recent tide and weather patterns have forced sea lions to seek food and shelter beyond their natural habitat. The SeaWorld team plans to return her to the water once she's well enough.
