Recovery Brunch In Miami

Dishes for the day after that holiday party

Sometimes a jolt of salty, rich food is needed the day after a holiday celebration. Here are three suggestions for recovery brunch–even if brunch is at 3 p.m.

At the new Florida Cookery, layers of juicy, shredded duck confit with guava jam, Tomme cheese and a duck egg are broiled, then garnished with shards of crispy duck skin ($16). The dish is served for lunch (starting at 11 a.m.) and dinner.

Spicy eggplant shakshuka ?($11) is the dish to order at Mozart Café. Eggs are poached in a tomato sauce seasoned with cumin and crushed red pepper. Roasted eggplant adds a smoky note. The shakshuka is just as tasty at the new Boca Raton location.

Huevos á la flamenca at Delicias de España is one of our favorite recovery brunches. The terra-cotta dish of eggs, jamón serrano and chorizo in paprika-laced tomato sauce is served all day ($12). Stir the dish when it is served, smoldering hot, for best egg distribution. Bread is for gingerly dipping until the tantalizingly aromatic dish is cool enough to eat.
