Video: How To Make A Prosciutto-Mozzarella Panini With Fig Jam

This ham and cheese sandwich gets fancy

The classic combination of ham and cheese never gets old, especially when the ham is prosciutto and the cheese is fresh mozzarella.

King's Hawaiian rolls, left attached to each other, make for a perfect and epic base in this giant sandwich. It gets piled high with fig jam, prosciutto, mozzarella and arugula. This is the kind of ham and cheese sandwich you make when all that's in the fridge is "the good stuff." The whole thing gets toasty and melted in a panini press, because, fact*: Grill marks make everything better.

Keep 8 King's Hawaiian rolls attached to each other, then slice them in half crosswise. Swipe the bottom half thickly and evenly with fig jam, about a ¼ cup total. Top with 4 to 6 slices of prosciutto, followed by rounds of fresh mozzarella. Sprinkle on a layer of peppery arugula then place the other half of buns back on top.

Brush the bottom griddle of a preheated panini press with olive oil and add the giant sandwich. Brush the top of the sandwich with more olive oil then close the panini press. Cook until the outside is well grilled, the inside is warmed throughout and the cheese has melted.
