Add the olive oil to a medium sauce pot and bring heat to medium. Add the garlic and stir while cooking for 2 to 3 minutes.
Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, nutritional yeast, basil, oregano, salt, sugar, red pepper flakes, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.
Lower the heat to a simmer, cover, and cook for 30 minutes.
Ready to serve or store for later use. If you are going to freeze this, let it completely cool then put into a freezer safe container. Will be good for 2 months.
